The Mother Tongue Language Department offers the following languages in the school:
- Chinese Language
- Malay Language
- Tamil Language
The Mother Tongue Language Department envisions that every student would love and excel in his/her Mother Tongue language and culture to the highest level that he/she is capable of.
Teaching & Learning Approach

Key Programmes
Through these programmes, the students have the opportunity to learn more about their own language and culture, while understanding about others’ cultures as well.
Rise & Read
Every Wednesday and Friday morning, the students will be exposed to current news and happenings in and out of Singapore. This programme allows the students to keep up with the latest news around the world, enhance their reading as well as expanding their vocabulary.
Mother Tongue Fortnight (MT Fortnight)
For two weeks, activities on learning one’s culture are integrated in their Mother Tongue Language lessons. Students also had the chance to experience hands-on activities during recess.
Cross Cultural Exposure Programme
While MT Fortnight allows the students to learn about their own culture, this programme expose the students to other cultures.
Speech & Drama
Every year, our Primary 2 students will go through Speech & Drama programme. This programme will help to enhance their oratorical skills as well as build up their confidence in public speaking.
Mother Tongue Language Camp (MTL Camp)
As part of their GOAL programme, our Primary 4 students went through a 1-day camp full of hands-on activities. Some of the activities include Diabolo for the CL students, Batik Painting for the ML students and martial arts for the TL students.
Conversational Chinese/Malay Programme
Primary 3 students are given the choice to opt for learning to converse in a different language. This allows them to understand and interact with their peers more meaningfully.
Post Exams Activities
Activities such as singing competition, storytelling and much more are planned for the students as a platform to develop their skills outside their academic studies.
Festival Celebrations
Celebrating these festivals together allows the students to appreciate their culture while promoting harmony between the different races.
