The purpose of Physical Education is to enable students to demonstrate individually and with others the physical skills, practices and values to enjoy a lifetime of active and healthy living.
In West Spring Primary School, the PE programme starts progressively in the lower primary. Students will master the fundamental motors skills using a broad variety of ‘PLAY’ concept activities in dance, gymnastics, outdoor education, sports and games.

West Spring Primary students observed a mock up Olympic styled Opening Ceremony with march pass and the torch relay during the Sports Day. It brought much splendour and pageantry to the occasion.
The lower primary students participated in inter class relays while the upper primary students participated in inter class sports and games like floorball, half-court basketball, captain’s ball, beach volleyball, soccer, Frisbee, Tennis Volleyball and Modified Dodgeball.

At primary 3, Students undergo the SwimSafer Programme which includes learning personal survival and basic swimming skills. This helps our students to gain confidence in water.

FRESH (FRuits to Enjoy and Stay Healthy) Tuesday Programme
The school introduces the FRESH Tuesday Programme to inculcate the healthy habit of eating fruits. Each week, students will be given a fruit to eat during BITES on Tuesday. This programme which was piloted in 2015 has continued to introduce a variety of fruits to the students. Each year, our students would have tasted more than 20 variety of exotic fruits such as persimmon, apricot, strawberries, blackberries, etc. In addition, our students are also educated on the fruits and its nutritional values. Students learn about the variety of vitamins, minerals, fibre and their benefits to our body during the programme.

The Children in Active Recreational Exercise (CARE) Programme organises thrice weekly physical activities to helps students maintain healthy weight. Students not only participate in sports and games but given advice on their dietary food intake.

Assembly morning exercise programme are held on Mondays, Tuesdays Wednesdays and Fridays. A variety of exercises such as aerobics, Jump Jam and Tabata routines are conducted to get students to work out before lesson begins. Regular weekly runs are also conducted for students to run at the school’s astro turf.
