School Green Awards
VANDA MISS JOAQUIM AWARD
The SEC-StarHub School Green Awards (SGA) is a self-audited voluntary environmental programme which serves as a platform for students to develop and showcase their environmental efforts, through customised activities which will help them gain a better understanding of the environment. The focus in 2018 was on the role of advocacy by students, who were required to initiate and lead their own environmental outreach projects. In 2018, the awards have changed and the highest award, Vanda Miss Joaquim Award, is achieved by schools with an overall score of more than 90%. We are proud to announce that WPS has attained the Vanda Miss Joaquim Award in 2018. Thank you for the support and let’s continue to work together to maintain WPS as a Green school.
Lotus Sustained Achievement Award
The SEC-StarHub School Green Awards (SGA) is an environmental programme which encourages schools to take on greater ownership in their environmental activities and management.
West Spring Primary attained the Lotus Sustained Achievement award. Schools with an overall score of 95% and above will receive the Lotus Award and will be awarded the Lotus Sustained Achievement award after attaining 3 consecutive Lotus Award.
The 3R Awards – Gold Award
The 3R Awards (based on the 3Rs – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) recognise and reinforce the positive environmental effects which students and teachers learn about. This programme encourages everyone in schools to inculcate the continuous habit of practising the 3Rs, contributing to better waste management and enhanced recycling.
West Spring Primary has received Gold for the 3R Awards.
These awards affirm West Spring Primary School’s efforts in implementing a holistic curriculum for our students. We aim to empower our students to become responsible individuals who cares for their environment.
